Job Description

The Quantum Internet Software Stack team is seeking a talented Systems Software Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will work on developing core network software systems for quantum networks, enhancing their first-in-the-world quantum network protocol stack with network control and management software. Collaborating with researchers at various European research organizations, the Engineer will integrate software systems with cutting-edge quantum network platforms. This role offers a unique and exciting challenge, allowing the Engineer to use their expertise to help create a new ground-breaking technology. The role will also involve working on projects to raise the technology readiness level of the systems and prepare for commercial trials and early industrial use cases. As a Systems Software Engineer at the Quantum Internet Software Stack team, you will have the opportunity to work on a unique and exciting challenge - developing core network software systems for quantum networks. Your role will involve co-designing and implementing network control and management software, ensuring a good fit of the software design and implementation to the problem domain by consulting with quantum networking experts. You will break down the software design into smaller, manageable chunks of implementation work, and write and test code for network control and management software.

Job requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python programming.
  • Demonstrable experience in network or distributed systems programming or related domain.
  • Experience in using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Google Protocol Buffers and gRPC, REST interfaces, YANG data modelling language, embedded systems, and knowledge of quantum physics concepts.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience or willingness to work with Agile methodology.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
